Bell & Swift appoints Colin Carswell as Associate Interior Designer
Glasgow based interior design studio Bell & Swift has appointed Colin Carswell to join the team as Associate Interior Designer. With extensive experience in hotel, bar, restaurant and branding design, Colin will work alongside company directors Craig McKie and Dawn Campbell on new client accounts and strategic business development, focusing on delivering large scale hospitality projects for the firm from concept through to completion.
The appointment marks further growth for Bell & Swift, a leading Scottish commercial interior design agency. The existing team boasts over 20 years of experience in hotel design, specialising in interior design for global hotel chains, boutique spaces and renovation projects. The addition of Colin’s specialist skills in hospitality design will assist with the delivery of the firm’s growing portfolio of work.
Prior to his move to Bell & Swift, Colin worked with both Dawn and Craig in a previous role where he held the position of interior designer. He then moved to work with Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) as a Design Manager working with the client team to implement the Holiday Inn Open Lobby concept. As well as specialising in the Holiday Inn brand during his time at IHG, he worked on Staybridge, Hotel Indigo, Crown Plaza and Holiday Inn Express projects across the UK and Europe.
Colin Carswell, newly appointed Associate Interior Designer at Bell & Swift said;
“I’m absolutely thrilled to have joined the team at Bell & Swift. Having worked with Dawn and Craig on previous projects, it’s great to be taking on this new challenge and getting the chance to work with the team again. I’ve spent the last few months working as a design consultant and so am excited to have the opportunity to work as part of a growing organisation and get back to delivering hands on design work again.”
Dawn Campbell, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Bell & Swift added:
“We’re so excited to have welcomed Colin to the team. This is the next step in terms of growth for our organisation, allowing us to take on additional new projects and clients while helping train and develop junior members of staff. Colin’s portfolio really speaks for itself, his experience in hospitality design is hugely complementary to the existing skill set within our team, and his knowledge and understanding of the industry and internal processes is unrivalled so we’re confident he’s going to be a great fit for the firm and for our clients.”
Throughout his career in London and Scotland, Colin has worked with Hilton, Marriott, InterContinental Hotels Group and Accor in addition to several boutique hotel owners, providing design services, reviewing drawings and feasibility studies. He has also created designs for museums and exhibitions in Edinburgh. Colin studied at the Glasgow School of Art after achieving an HND in 3D design with a focus on exhibition design.
